Poland demanded a “strong and clear response” from the U.S. after President Barack Obama’s mention of a “Polish death camp” while honoring a Pole who told the world about the Holocaust.

It look like the US President needed a history lesson and the Polish Government is giving him one.

While I completely understand why the Poles are upset, I also think it's an easy mistake to make. It was a camp in Poland. It was run by Germans to be sure, but there were also Poles who worked there.

Now wait just a damn minute.

If you had said the mistake was an ESL problem, calling it a Polish Death Camp,
referring to a Camp located in Poland, as opposed to a Camp located in Hungary,
or a Camp located in Ukraine, etc. etc.,
    that would be fine.

Instead, you are trying to imply that the possibility of enslaved Poles,
or a few true idiots joining the Nazi cause, has changed the definition of
exactly what was that Camp, who set it up, who organized it, etc. etc.,
to reflect some kind of official Polish involvement.......

    Sorry, no deal.

I don't think anyone meant to say it was a Death Camp run by Polish Nazi's. I can see a mistake like that easily being made. It was in Poland. And that is where it stops.

That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying it's an easy mistake to make. Doesn't mean he's right, or that an apology isn't neccesary.

I agree it was a simple mistake that warrants an apology but I wonder what the lefties reaction would have been if Bush or Palin said it! 8O

You know that Bill Maher and Jon Stewart would be all over this like a fat kid on a smarties if it was any right wing politician.

I seem to remember that this actually did happen not too long ago. I just can't remember who said it last time.

The right, of course, would never stoop so low.

The main diff that I can see is that Maher and Stewart are intentionally funny, and actually mock the left at times as well. The Faux News blowhards are just funny in their rage.

The majority of the Poles working in those camps were also prisoners or forced laborers. Even the guards were working there under duress and the war crimes tribunals cleared the overwhelming majority of them.

With regards to Obama's comments it seems this guy has made it a habit to insult America's closest allies and this is just one more in a long line of such insults.
