A Canadian soldier based in Shilo, Man., says he will keep speaking out about a lack of medical and mental health services, despite an order from a superior to be quiet.

    Once you leave the basic chain of command, which is up to about the rank of captain, the rest of the military is essentially no different than any other government ministry, replete with the mind numbing bureaucracy and stupidity one associates with the civil service.

    I will never understand why we have money for Tamil Tiger supporters,
    all kinds of money for plastic Canadians,
    and yet hear way too many of these kinds of stories.

    Something needs to change.

    I'd like to hear the particulars of his experience cuz I had very good treatment and compinsation. The only thing I didn't get was the ganglian sist removed before I left.

    I had a friend who was misdiagnosed for his broken spine for 6 months, 4 of those in Afghanistan but that was a individual failure and the military has taken care of him since then. I've seen nothing but good experiences.

    Agreed, 7-8 years ago it was a different story but so much has changed now. Anyone that I know that has needed help has got it. The only problem that I have seen now is guys being released from injuries but that's on a case by case basis and something for a different time and place....
