Where's Shanahan now? That was an obvious head shot.

Both Sedin and Keith should be suspended.

Sedin took an obvious shot at Keith's head earlier and this was his retaliation.

Cheap hit from both players but Keith deserves more suspension.

That would be fair...Daniel will probably be out longer than any Suspension he would be given though.

True enough. Regardless of any suspensions handed down doesn't change that fact.

Hope it's not too serious and that he'll be ok. He'll be missed for sure but it's up to the rest of the team to make up for that.

There is no way in Hell you can consider Daniel's hit on Keith either a headshot or a deliberate attempt to injure, it was a shoulder to shoulder hit with Keith's head turned down and away watching the puck when he was hit. From the looks of it Keith just wasn't expecting the hit and therefore didn't brace himself for it. At the very most I would say Sedin could have taken 2 minutes for it being a somewhat a late hit as the puck was well past at the time. The on ice officials didn't see any problem with the hit, either being to the head or even being late, but as we all know they have been known to miss or ignore the obvious on quite a few occasions! Unfortunately the only video I can find of the hit is the one attached to this story and it gives very little detail, if anyone can find a better view I would very much like to see it.
As for Keith's hit on Daniel, there can be no doubt it WAS a deliberate elbow to the head and a definite attempt to injure. As for the 2 minute minor penalty he received at the time, that was a fucking joke. I hope Shannahan shows he has a pair and throws the book at Keith. Even though, as far as I know this is his first major infraction he should be facing a major fine and at least a 5 game suspension.
I would like to see any major infraction like this having the offending player suspended as long as the injured player is unable to play, unfortunately this just ain't never going to happen.

Which is why this crap keeps happening. The punishment has little resemblance to the consequences of the crime.

I would like to see that too. But at least they can come u with something better than they have no. What kind of management lets it's star players be taken out for weeks or months at a time?

Of course you're going to say that, you're a Canucks fan.

But from an outsider who watched the game, the principal contact was the head.

Daniel is a great player and very smart. He knew full well that his shoulder was going to meet his head on the blind side when he pushed up into the hit.

He'll get a pass though, because he'll get the benefit of the doubt because he's a soft player without any history.

Saying it's retaliation makes it even worse.
That would introduce an element of premeditation.

Check out the hit at the 15 second mark, you see Keith's head go back when he's hit, you can then see his shoulder above and behind Sedin's shoulder. I still hold it was a shoulder to shoulder hit to start, with Sedin's shoulder then sliding up to make contact to Keith's head.

I see it as Keith pointing out to Sedin that the puck was bouncing over his head and then his elbow made contact with his face.

Five games for Keith. No suspension for Sedin.

Keith maintains he's a "standup guy." Whatever buddy--I saw you in the playoff series versus Vancouver and in the press room in between games. He's got anger management issues. Game is going to to shit anyways with all thse concussions. Get rid of the fucking Kevlar. Get rid of the instigator penalty.
