My first reaction was to say great, the protest did some good. But after thinking a bit, no it didn't. Violence is not OK, and we should not try to prevent anybody from speaking who's not inciting it. So I agree with the guy in the story - this is a loss for Canada. Using effective, peaceful, protest is the way to go. Challenge the people going in to see Cheney - publicize their names.

So Democrats in the USA are not friendly to Canada and then Canadians are not friendly to Republicans in the USA.

Next time you kids get f*cked on some trade dispute forgive me if I say you made your bed so lay in it.

I know it's not what you want to hear but it is pragmatically true. Canada needs to make some friends in the USA because that's what is in Canada's best interests.

Obama and the Democrats hate you right now because 1) you have oil and 2) you have Harper.

That you folks campaigned openly for the Democrats in the past three US national elections doesn't matter to these people.

That leaves making friends with the Republicans. It may not be your first choice but it is a pragmatic choice.

So the same reason the G8 Summit was moved from Chicago to Camp David. Move along nothing to see here.

Exactly. Protests stopped working long ago, because the corporations that own the politicians decided it should be so. So the protesters had to ramp things up. Too bad everyone went too far in the name of protests.

So, avoiding the protests altogether seems to be the way to go, so the politicans can just bypass the uncomfortable message altogether.

But Cheney must be the first person since Germans in WWII who were afraid of us big bad Canadians.

Like I say to the Gemran shere: "Hey, last time we were in a war together, we were getting paid to shoot you guys."
