Female athletes torn on joining lingerie football

Pending tryouts for B.C.'s lingerie football team are leaving some up-and-coming athletes with a dilemma: is it worth stripping off most of their uniform -- not to mention protective gear -- to play professionally?

Two thoughts here: I do agree it is sexist and appeals to the lowest instincts of the male football fan, but when I look at a few clips of it I do see the entertainment value even if I don't won't to.

You cannot put "lingerie" and "being taken seriously as an athlete" in the same sentence. Playing Football in lingerie is nothing more than visually "satisfying" men. There is a reason why Football players wear the gear that they wear.

If you want to do anything in lingerie for money, go pole dancing, become a model or a hooker.

This kinda seems like the athletic equivilant of "just doing the porno movies until I get a role in a real movie." Unfortunatly for athletic women, there are very few "real movies" out there for them.

I don't see the fuss. This isn't much different than going to see a stripper.

But, a woman in the newspaper moaned how women should be to play football in full protective gear. Allowed? Who's stopping them? This journalist and her like minded sisters should pool their money and start a real football league for women. Then they can have a good laugh about how they lost their money because nobody came to see it.

I think this type of crap is terrible and embarrassing for women as a whole.

    Why degrade yourself?

Brenda, you are right the women doing this kind of football is a hardly a serious sport. It is just a different form of watching a strip show.

    Will they have male "cheerleaders"?

If so, how will they be attired? :P
