Chronic sex offenders are almost impossible to rehabilitate. If this works then why not go for it? Certainly beats leaving them rotting in prison for the rest of their lives.

...but cites a study indicating it's effective and notes it's voluntary and only performed after all implications have been explained.

If it's voluntary than what the hell is the problem??
Even if it wasn't I wouldn't personally give a shit, but who the hell are the people whining about it to tell someone they can't have it done to themselves.

Reminds me of a landmark case in Canada where a pedophile the courts to make castration part of his punishment. He wasn't askiing for leniency elsewhere ie:less time for doing it, he just knew that when he was released again, he'd re-offend. His request was flatly denied.

If it works, I'm all for it.

It might sound excessive in a PC way, but as the German law is written I agree with it.

But it says it's an "irreversible intervention"

    Ehmmm, duhhhh... That's the intention.

A vasectomy is just as irreversible, but that is no problem.

Stop the PC crap, please. Some people cannot be helped otherwise, even if they want. If they want to, and doctors agree, then please, get your head out of your collective asses.

The only response Germany need ever issue...'voluntary'.

As far as I am concerned, it is a persons right to choose what they want to do with their genitalia. If they believe that they will be better people for it, they have my support. Especially when it is in regards to serious sex offenders attempting to stop themselves from re-offending.

Uh no, a vasectomy is reversible. It's just that no man on earth would ever let a doctor with a scalpel go "down there" a second time. 8O

I'd prefer Canada-and the rest of the world-to use this method of castration for sex offenders. It too has guaranteed results!Treatment for pedophiles.jpg

Word on the street is getting it "done" is uncomfortable, but having it "undone" hurts like a son of a bitch. 8O

I can vouch for the getting it done. Not really painful, just uncomfortable. I was back running within 5 days but I can guarantee it will be a cold day in hell before a doctor ever gets down there with a knife again.

    Try having a baby, guys.

Or a PAP-smear. Or a needle in your butt every 3 month (birth control). Or a pill that drives your hormones crazy every day. Or... or...

You're such whiny pussies

(btw, my ex tried to reverse his, did not work out well :P)

Actually Brenda one of the most painful things I've ever had done was a spinal tap. A syringe the size of a bayonet shoved into your spinal cord to draw spinal fluid, takes about 5 minutes and you can't move. 8O

The headache that followed was so bad that if there was a gun handy I would have shot myself because that would have been less painful.

Also, if having a baby was so painful no woman would ever have more than one!
