Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter has died at the age of 57. The former Montreal Expos star was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour last May.

What a sad way to begin the baseball season. What a great player. He killed my Red Sox in '86. One of only 3 catchers in the past 50 years to get into the Hall of Fame. That's a rare talent at the game's most demanding position.
