About 300 people were arrested in Oakland during a chaotic day of Occupy protests that saw demonstrators break into City Hall and burn an American flag, as police earlier fired tear gas and bean bags to disperse hundreds of people.

They show up brandishing homemade riot shields... Cool war paint on the front of them too.

Ya, give peace a chance. Except when we're breaking into buildings, then just look away.

And this is why broad political movements tend to fall flat on their ass, eventually somebody goes to an extreme and you either kick them out or lose the moderates.

That's what happens when you get a few hundred attention whores in one location. Sad.

You have to wonder where the moderate, peaceful mindset is on this situation. Personally if I attended a demonstration that turned out like this one I would not be back next time. This is like those crazy G-8/G-20 conferences where the demonstrations are the story rather than the content.
