As a canucks fan I could care less if they hired a coach that only spoke German. What I want is for them to not choke in the playoffs and win the friggin Stanley Cup. That should be the goal of any hockey fan. Why must some Quebecers embarrass themselves like this?

Tribal behaviours are not often grandiose. Some people are fighting for democracy, others are fighting for a hockey coach who speaks french. A glorious nation...

Odd thing is..........there's only 3 Quebec born players on the team.

they aren't hockey fans anyways. Real fans are more interested in their team winning games. besides, except for 3 players, none of the rest are francophones, so why does the coach need to be able to speak french?

To appease the media, which for some reason they give status to. Brian Burke or Wilson would tell the TO media to fuck off. The Fonz in NY has already done that........... and then we have these twats in Montreal.

This is why the rest of Canada can't stand Quebec. you have people like this and the majority stay quiet, allowing this asshattery to continue.

Montreal has an American captain...and haven't had a Canadian captain for the last 13 years.

Who would want the job of Captain? You know the next one is going to have their language skills scrutinized as well thanks to this idiocy.

Am I the only one that thinks the media is blowing thins way, way, way out of proportion?

Montreal has thousands of fans...probably hundreds of thousands of fans.

    A couple hundred protest?

There is a fringe element of hard liners in every group, and they are almost never indicative of the entire groups philosophy.

Yeah, that's Montreals problem. Maybe some quality players, some size and toughness aren't needed, just people who can speak french.

If the language of the coach and players is that important, they need to follow a different hockey team.
