The Saudi Interior Ministry says in a statement the execution took place Monday, but gave no details on the woman's crime.
The London-based al-Hayat daily, however, quoted Abdullah al-Mohsen, chief of the religious police who arrested the woman, as saying she had tricked people into thinking she could treat illnesses, charging them $800 per session.
The paper said a female investigator followed up, and the woman was arrested in April, 2009, and later convicted in a Saudi court.
It did not give the woman's name, but said she was in her 60s.
The execution brings the total to 76 this year in Saudi Arabia, according to an Associated Press count. At least three have been women.

You're for the death penalty, Bart. What's your problem here? She was running a con and paid the ultimate price. She'll never cheat anybody again - isn't that the argument?

You're for the death penalty, Bart. What's your problem here? She was running a con and paid the ultimate price. She'll never cheat anybody again - isn't that the argument?Not Bart, but as another American my issue is the crime in question. Executions should be for things like murder, treason, and rape, not theft. Granted, I'm not sure where I stand on the death penalty, but I do know that I don't believe it should be applied to theft. I also believe that an execution for sorcery is absolutely stupid. She should have been charged with theft or fraud, not using magic.

In general, it is better, but given that a couple Western states (like the USA & Japan) still have the death penalty too, we're not all that further ahead in this regard.
IMHO, the only difference in this regard is that they execute 'witches' and rape victims, while in the US, people can be put to death based on eyewitness accounts, even if its recanted after the trial.

I am just mad he tried to act superior to people that act just as barbaric as the west does, the west is just better with propaganda. I don't like the death sentence, period. I also don't think nations have any right to interfere in the affairs of another nation without the permission of the people in the nations that would be interfered with.
