Hey, on December 31st it'll be the end of my calendar! Is that a portent of the end of the world? Or maybe just time for me to get a new calendar?
That's how I see it.... they probably figured their calender was long enough and covered enough time. They were probably planning on rolling out another calender by they were wiped out.
Anybody who thinks because the calender suddenly ends means the end of the world, really need to get a grip.

In the original link, they state this second artifact seems to note something that happened, rather than what will happen, so nothing new here....
