You hear it in every little encampment in every city that has a franchise in the current Occupy protests: The righteous tent-and-yurt people are against greed. They see greed as the demonic dynamo of a rapacious capitalism (and its maidservant

Not a common occurrence, is it?
personally, I don't agree with the protests. But Rex has a point on this one.
Agreed. CEO of BC ferries was getting paid 1 mill a year to the horror of BC Ferry users and taxpayers - the same ferry users and taxpayers who have no grief to drop $20 to see a shitty Jim Carey movie where they guy was paid tens of millions for a few months work or the watch Jersey Shore, X Factor or some other non quality piece of entertainment that makes a handful millions.
"Wada" said Interesting. I've never heard anyone blaming Hollywood for losing their home or job. Or for that matter some sport player, musician or etc.
Corporate welfare seems well placed outrage to me.
This is a focus on the 1% or did you miss that slogan?

Yeah... outrage is not misplaced.
Funny, I actually don't really watch television anymore. Usually history channel, mythbusters, the news, and sports (As overpaid as athletes are, their jobs really are 24/7 and it takes a lot to make it to their level). Television is mostly for gaming now, which goes towards the people that make the games.
As for movies, don't really do that much anymore either. And music I pay for occasionally.
I miss Rex's point, as usual. His grumpiness gets in the way of his rationality and it all comes off as a little pissy and petty.

It's voluntary versus involuntary. People choose t see a Jim Carey movie. People have to take BC Ferries if they want to go to Vancouevr Island. It's just human nature that people see involuntary costs as much more irritating than voluntary ones. Thus all the bitching about taxes, for example.
His Timmy's rant is better. Hollywood actors are paid by their reaspective studios, not the taxpayer. By going to the theatre you're agreeing to give the studio what they're asking for, rather than sitting at home and watching a DVD or HBO. They aren't forcing you to go see their done to death storylines.

I'm not shortsighted enough to focus on the 1% as the cause of this angst.
That would make you the .0001% then.
