no matter who gets the contract, it's a no win situation for the government. On the posative side, this is a HUGE military investment and all the money will stay right here..in Canada!

Many in BC sense we're about to get fucked... royally. I hope that's not the case but irrespective of what the government says, this reeks of potential politics, and voters out west have long memories.

Shit like this is what destroyed the old Progressive Conservative party and helped to birth Reform. Bristol being fucked over by the feds in favour of Bombardier is still a sore point.

In 2001, Bombardier stock was trading around $24. It closed yesterday at $3.95. Yay government! Way to back a winner.

My gut tells me Halifax will get the big military contract. The Quebec shipyard will get the civvie contract, as the Quebecois will cry foul (loudly) if they don't get their slice of pork.

    BC will be left out.

A better deal would be for Halifax to get the military, and sub out
    some work to Davie.

    BC gets the civvie.

    But, we'll see.

I agree it would be better, but I don't think it'll play out that way.

Of course, we'll find out shortly.

How much did Davie partnering with ULS sour the bids in the PC's eyes?

It was a decision not made by the government, and probably a good one as well.

Davie will get some work from it.
