A U.S. consumer group has filed complaints against two of the largest American automakers over advertising claims that their vehicles are made in the United States, even though they're assembled in Canada

I'm surprised they didn't do this sooner. First time I saw the 'Imported from Detriot' commercial and knew the Chrysler 200 was made here, I wondered how big Fiat's balls were.

I wouldn't mind a car built in Canada, in fact I would probably prefer it (outside of Quebec of course).

For several years now, Ontario has been the largest auto manufacturer in North America, so there is a good chance you're already driving a car made in Canada.

As long as the car is made somewhere in North America and not in Mexico or India or China or whatever, I'm happy. If they want to claim that the car is totally from Detroit, that's okay. Canadians know where it was really made anyhow.

They are imported from Detroit. That's the Port of Entry.

I prefer cars from a different monarchy, namely Australia.

When Chrysler came out with the minivan, GM was caught without a similar offer. Turned out GM's Holden was already making them, they turned into the Astro/Safari here.
Now if they still produced them, say with a little Isuzu 2.4L diesel they'd have a counter to the Ford Transit for small business like mine who don't need a Sprinter and can't afford the Transit.
Some of the Aussie utes would go over big here too. But they gotta get over putting huge gas gobblers into every truck they market here.

Where a car is means far less than people think.

    Where are the parts made?

    Truly a sad reality.

I would *love* for Ford to bring some of those 'Utes here. I've always been a Aussie Falcon and Holden fan.

Indeed. The last 3 cars I've owned, came from that plant. There was no safer car with higher quality built in North America.

    Really? Lincolns, Crown Victorias?
Are you like 75 and wear a hat or a pimp?

Funny. Does your stereotype apply to cops and cab drivers too?

No, at the time I drove a couple thousand km per week. You've never driven a more comfortable car. And there is no other car built that had a 5 star crash rating on all 4 sides.

I still drive a "Grand Marquis De Sade".
