"Court documents indicate it was recently valued at between $500,000 and $800,000, a fraction of what the Canadian government has spent on upkeep since its arrival."
We are doing something wrong. We should convert the ship into a target as Martin suggested!!!!
it's only been a few generations that rioters and looters weren't shot by the army and police....and it wasn't a riot initiated by some social injustice, it was assholes burning and destroying the property and livliehood of others for shit and giggles. Your comparison to a traffic violation falls short.

Your defense of a capital punishment for a minor crime also falls short. It's only been a few generations since women couldn't vote, and men were allowed to own other men. Times change, and we aren't Pinkerton's.

Pinkertons were used as union busters and there is no comparison between workers fighting for labour rights and what happened in Vancouver, comparing the two is insulting to those who risked life and limb to secure the rights of workers. Again, not a proper choice of analogy

People were using their constitutional right to freely associate to form unions, and were beaten and killed by Pinkertons. Not something worthy of capital punishement; just as rioting is not worthy of being put on a scow, towed out to sea and torpedoed. The analogy holds.
No one is discounting the rioters need harsh punishment, but 'Brah' seems unable to distinguish between just and unjust forms of punishment, and you continue to defend his point of view. I just don't understand why.

Keep it in the harbour and use it for homeless shelter or abused women and children's shelter.
That's a great idea but retired cruise ship would be better..
Stick the convicted Vancouver rioters on the ship then use it for target practice..
So rioting is punishable by death now? What next, failure to use a turn signal?

When all the new jails are built and the outcry starts about the union entitlements of all those new public servant guards, ???
