CALGARY — Grande Prairie, Alta., RCMP are investigating after a city man was involved in what appears to be the accidental shooting of his hunting partner.

Should we start another discussion about the gun registry?
Probably forgot to turn on (could have also been turned off by bumping while loading) the safety or jostled the weapon and something slipped into making it fire, happens time to time.
What DanSC said... never load a gun before you're ready to fire.
He was lucky and only wounded the guy. Can you imagine accidentally killing a friend this way and blaming yourself your whole life for something that could have been avoided by using a bit of common sense?

Sorry but there's no excuse for this. Positive safety while handling firearms never results in an "accidental" shooting, but laziness and incompetence does.

If hunter is an idiot, even rules won't help. There is one good Ukr proverb "To read is good, to think is better".

Absolute rubbish! There is NO MARGIN FOR ERROR when it comes to firearms. This idiot should be charged to the fullest extent, and have all firearms confiscated and banned for life!

Nobody is ever 100% able to be safe with a firearm, accidents will always happen and have always happened even back when we had to use bows to hunt. People fuck up and sometime they are as safe as possible and remember to do everything safely the weapon just slips or malfunctions and that is almost always when a person is walking by.

Sorry but I disagree. In almost 40 years of handling firearms I have never had an "accident", but lazy, incompetent people seem to have them quite often.

Wasn't Dick Cheney in the area?
My first thought when I read the headline

When I clicked on the link that was the exact same thing I was gonna post.
Bummer.
