I doubt the UK Armed Forces will recieve much in the way of budget increases.

The trend seems to be towards slashing and burning of assets and capabilities.

The cuts look pretty nasty - decommission one of the amphibs, four frigates, all Harriers (before F-35s arrive), cut 17,000 personnel, etc.

The Argies will be back in the Falklands the minute the Brits relax. It'll be terribly sad to see the blood of good men spilled to take the same real estate again.

    Demographics trumps war.

The Argies could've had the Falklands if the Falklands had a large Spanish/Argentine population.

    They don't.

I doubt they will attempt to take over the island again.

Who fights wars with bombs anyways? Demographics trumps war.

Next time around the UK may not have the luxury of removing the Argentine mainland from the area of engagement.

The number of casualties will be much higher, unless the UK capitulates.

The Argentines see the Kelpers as nothing more than squatters on what is rightfully theirs.

The Falkland Island population is only 3000 or so. It wouldn't take much to expel them from the islands entirely if that was the plan.

They are going threw what Canada did over a decade ago. The UK military was already on shaky grounds even before these cuts.

They stand alone and they know it. NATO and the US are paper tigers and China/Russia are wolves at the gates. Hard times will mean hard choices.

Argentina will be unlikely to make that attempt again. It was nothing last time but the effort of a military government to impress the world and its own people.

Most Argentinians are against any such adventure.

The UK military isn't the only one that's gonna suffer from defense cuts, it's also their supplier. BAE Systems has announced it'll cut it's UK workforce by 3000 jobs because of cuts in military aircraft.

Indeed we did. We're just going to use the Falklands as another vacation destination though.
