The practice of holding the town's Remembrance Day ceremonies in September stems backs to the days when many Island roads were muddy and often difficult to travel on in November.

John Yeo, a member of the Cornwall cenotaph committee, said in the past, people often could not get on the roads on Nov. 11 because roads were muddy, snowy or both.

OMG, not a dose of common sense on the Island.. :)
