I guess cheating took too long, they decided just to raid the treasury instead. I play online for kicks, I'm always amazed that guys will bet a fortune after having flopped nothing, and somehow beat trips with two miricle cards. I play live action poker too, strange things do happen, but at least you have better faith that the game is not rigged.

I think what happens with on-line poker is that you play so many more hands per hour than you ever would at a live table that the odds SEEM different. You see more strange things happen because so many more cards are being dealt. I occasionally play Absolute Poker and I once saw the dealer toss Q Q Q on the flop 5 hands in a row. The odds against that are astronomical. Also, it's human nature to rememeber the "bad beats" but forget the times you sucked out against the odds.

Yeah, I play online too (Pokerstars) and I agree that the cards always seem to come up for people sitting in certain spots on the table, which is why I only play with play money.

The only times I play with real money is with my friends, and even then it's only tournament style (everyone buys in for $25 or something and 1st & 2nd get money back). That way nobody loses their shirt and goes home angry that they blew hundreds of bucks.

Ya, it seems strange. And the problem is that you can never really be sure that something isn't rigged online even on the big sites. You will note that these sites may be exploited:

I like to play online at home because it keep me sharp for the real life games, which I am really good at. Online I never seem to do very well.
