The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority’s new birth centre hasn't opened yet but already some are questioning its safety.
The $3.5-million centre will open its doors in the next few weeks on St. Anne's Road. It will be run by midwives with no doctors on
I wish the story had some stats as there are birth centres like this out east (we used one)in the US and Europe etc. How many deaths / fatal complications per patient are their in these centres versus a hospital ward? Both out kids were through a midwife, one in hospital one in a birth centre. They won't let you use a birth centre for many reasons and take no chances. I'd go birth centre again without a second thought, it was literally like giving birth in a 4 star hotel right down to the meals they served.
Wondering what others thoughts on the issue?
