Going to the polls might just mean booting up your computer during the next federal byelection, Elections Canada says.

Looking at the number of times hackers have penetrated government computer systems recently, I'm going to walk out on a limb and say that this is a f*cking terrible idea.

I hope none of you have internet access to your bank accounts. If you do, how can you sleep at night?

Never mind hackers, someone too lazy to get off their ass and go to a polling station to vote can STFU and swallow what the rest of us decide.

That's kind of a shitty attitude to have. How do you presume to know what kept someone from making it to the polling station? I think anything which may increase voter turnout should at least be looked into.

    R=UP

All parties have systems to get voters out. There is zero reason for anyone to need this.
Bad security for vote counts, no verification of the voter, no private ballot.

    Bad idea all around.

Agreed. It pisses me off every time when I see the results that show the pathetic percentage of eligible voters that can't be bothered to go and vote. It takes only minutes to participate in the right and obligation one has to voice their opinion.

Online voting is not a good idea.

Bahahaha. Yeah online voting is an excellent idea when groups like anonymous are able to bring down government servers for hours at a time.

    Fucking tards.

Not even remotely close to reality.

Having worked on this last campaign, it's literally impossible to get all those who want to vote, who can't get out, to vote. The candidates don't have a large enough
staff to run around and get hundreds of people while also providing scrutineers, etc, etc, etc

Online voting is the way of the future and it's going to happen regardless of how much you bitch about it.

We're able to handle the census securely, we're able to handle voting as well.

The current system is filled with flaws anyways with people being able to vote multiple times, it's a joke to sit and watch how it works.

You file your taxes through the internet, you bank online, you buy online. Don't see the problem.

I agree it's a bad idea. It's an election, not an internet poll.

Cause it'd only be open for a period of time. A simple DDOS attack would render and entire country's election worthless. Not to mention if someone managed to break in and change the results.

Why does it matter that it is only open for a period of time? Does that mean they can't secure it like they can online banking? I call BS.

I agree nothing is flawless, but it's not flawless now either. You can still send your vote through snail mail. That's really secure, huh. No one can mess with that, and you are SURE your vote will be delivered by the mailman. Did I mention I am STILL waiting for a package that was sent to me over 2 years ago?
