HONOLULU — An excavation crew recently made a startling discovery at the bottom of Pearl Harbor when it unearthed a skull that archeologists suspect is from a Japanese pilot who died in the historic attack on Dec. 7, 1941.
When I was a kid in Hawaii there was a guy who was there and he said when that raid started he and his father grabbed some shot guns as his father reasoned that there would be some shot down Japanese pilots.
They found one and sent him to his honourable ancestors. They weren't in the mood to be PC at the time.

Another reason why every hick with a Gun is a bad idea. A shot down Pilot was more useful Alive for Intel purposes, then Dead for some knee jerk vengeance.
