Kim Walker ? the father from Yorkton, Sask., who claimed he shot his daughter's boyfriend in 2003 to save her from a drug-addicted lifestyle ? will spend another 18 months in prison....

Walker, 54, was originally convicted of second-degree murder but that verdict was overturned.

Saskatchewan Court of Queen's Bench Judge Ellen Gunn sentenced Walker to eight years on a manslaughter conviction on Wednesday.

His daughter Jadah has stood by his side, remaining drug-free for the past eight years.

Seems his sacrifice was worth it, and paid off after all.

Idk if I may regret saying it but for some reason I applaud this guy. If what he says happened happened. That his daughter was becoming a drug user thanks to her boyfriend (I believe that part no doubt) and the fact her boyfriend was threatening the dad because he was trying to get her help.

The boyfriend sounded like a prime scumbag, though I don't know the guy so that can't be factual just a opinion. Either way, if I was a dad of a girl who was becoming a drug addict thanks to her boyfriend and nobody will seperate them or get the dude away from his daughter. I'd shoot the prick too. Well maybe save that as a very last resort. Punch him out and drag my daughter back home probally. No way is a dad going to watch his daughter become a drug addict supplied by her boyfriend and just sit and do nothing.

Yes, initially I had come up with the knee jerk PC response that was the fink, but when you stop to consider that the boyfriend was Prime Grade 100& First Class Scumbag turning his daughter into a drug addict and I've come to an entirely different opinion.

I would give him six months of house arrest to be served in Paris Hilton's mansion.

Last I heard the daughter hadn't talked to her father since it happened, now they say she's supporting him???? Fact is she's clean, he's only got 18 months more to serve and they can get on with their lives.

Walker's lawyers argued he acted in self-defence when he shot Hayward

ROTFL Lawyers can be so funny.

And you know this how? I lived in Yorkton when this happened and as soon as Jadah cleaned herself up she completely supported what her father did.

For a more serious crime, the penalty is 1 year with Paris Hilton.
