Send her home.
The only reson we havent been paying so far is this twit didnt pay the 50 dollar application fee ?
Send her home.
She is applying again.
Sad that a woman that clearly plans to stay for good and become a resident isn't getting the care but also good that she isn't being covered as a result of not becoming a resident sooner and only wanting to get permanent resident for the health care. Make one exception and it opens the floodgates for hundreds or thousands of people to do the same thing and drain a system being funded by long time residents.
no problems.
And soon enough free medical to boot.
I guess they don't get out much?
We became a "health care safe haven" when we allowed every immigrant and refugee sick or healthy, legal or otherwise to bring their aging relatives, sick children, sick spouses and god knows who else over to get free medical care from an an already overly taxed health care system.
Maybe this ruling will start bringing some sanity back to the immigration system, but I somehow doubt it.
Why? I had to pay, why shouldn't she?
Why? I had to pay, why shouldn't she?
Ahh don't worry Brenda. The court just said they must consider it. Considering and doing are 2 different things. The gov't could very well consider it and decide upon consideration that they don't wanna waive the fee
Actually, they should waive the fee and send her back to Grenada.
I never paid a fee to enroll in BC's healthcare program tho.
It's like ... common sense that it does not apply to illegal immigrants !
Yeah but common sense don't work on idiot groups like "No one is Illegal" or whatever the hell they call themselves. And it doesn't seem to work very well in courtrooms presided over by uber-liberal judges.
Which means that it's not over until the Supreme Court has it's say. It could still turn into a total liberalist clusterfuck for the country's entire medical system if those people rule in favour of this illegal. "You meant to be a Canadian but you merely filled out the paperwork incorrectly? Oh well, that's OK then, as long as you meant to do it. Full rights and benefits are hereby granted to you".
Here in Quebec, we have a program to bring Mexicans in the summer to gather the vegetables and fruits in the farms. By law, they can't pay more than 40$/week for their apartments. They have the cable for spanish television. But they also have full healthcare, for them and their family in Mexico. They also have access to most programs like subsidized childcare and subsidized medications. Free school for their children. Well, about anything we have in Quebec. They do not pay taxes since they have to declare them in Mexico. They even have a union !!

Or it could turn into a total conservative clusterfuck where they rule "You weren't born here? Well, that's too bad, now get the hell out of our country and take all your friends with you"
If they couldn't sustain themselves in the long term then they shouldn't have been let into Canada in the first place. Our medical system wouldn't be under half the strain it is now if we didn't end up being stuck caring for the elderly non-taxpaying relatives that immigrants bring with them to Canada. Maybe some lefties like you think this sort of thing is all big hearted and wonderful. The rest of us that can actually look past the sloganeering of the NDP and the pap that Trudeau shovelled down our throats know for a fact that it's exactly this sort of liberalist nonsense that's someday going to collapse the system altogether.
You want to know where angry reactionary conservatism comes from, buddy? You know, the hyper-dangerous kind that's ripping apart the United States right now? It comes from liberals and leftists like you who think up this high-priced garbage, force everyone else to pay for it, and then can't even bother to admit that you were horribly wrong when it blows up in your smug liberal faces and turns into a financial catastrophe that afflicts entire generations of Canadian taxpayers. You clowns knock it off with this sort of grasping, statist, ever-expanding-government bullshit and reactionary conservatism loses it's reason for being overnight. But that'll never happen, will it? You guys are never wrong, are you?

Do you know what anti-immigration causes? Look at Saskatchewan and Alberta and you will see two provinces completely crippled, not by the economies, but by a lack of manpower. We need mass immigrants to sustain our increasingly educated workforce but of course you conservatives are completely blind to that and are perfectly happy putting people with university degrees in McDonalds because the lack of manpower forced closes in jobs they would normally get.
Your so-called 'reactionary conservationism' has always existed, it has always hated immigrants and only recently has started being kicked out by liberals are willing to at least look at a situation longer than it takes to find a single immigrant involved so you can kill the idea. I never once stated I defend illegal immigrants, you made that part up on your own, and many other on the left agree with me that it is not acceptable but equally unacceptable is the current system. good and skilled immigrants come over and find that doctors in their home country are now working in a 7/11 because there is no program in place to get them up to Canadian standards. We also have a 3 year backlog of immigrants that have passed our tests but can't come in because we have a limit to on the numbers while some provinces starve from a lack of labour. I can walk down any business street here and see at least three 'now hiring' signs, and even than many places are hiring but never put up the signs. I have worked and do still work in the job levels these people fill and I can tell you that we more immigrants, not want, actually need them to fill positions that Canadians consider themselves too good for.
Of course you wouldn't care about that because they are an immigrant and as a result are automatically stealing jobs from proper Canadians.
