Chill WRG, it's not done yet. There's an issue with Brule's health. I've been twitter stalking tambellini and compulsively checking the oiler's web page since I heard the first rumour last night and so far as I know it's still not a sure thing.

I'll be the first to have a celebratory cyber drink with ya if it does go through tho!

At $6 million cap hit I don't think so. I'd like to see the cry baby back but not for that price.

The Kings have pretty well said this trade is toast, thank christ.

We can afford the cap hit for 1 year. He brings leadership, toughness, pk ability, and minimum 20 goals. Overpriced for those things yes, but still... it's smitty! He'll also help teach these young kids what it means to be an Oiler. And it's not like we were ever gonna be spending to the cap next year anyways.

We need the leadership. As Unsound said, he'll teach these young ones, and the rest of the team could use a good, strong, proud leader as well. There's been no heart in that team since he left and it shows. I don't care what it costs. He's worth every penny.

And.... it's Smytty for God's sake! He's ours. Bring him home.

You do know he was close to being a Flame yesterday?

He must have an ailing parent cause he just wants to come back to Alberta and the Saddledome is about a 1/2 hour quicker drive from Red Deer, where I surmise his parents still live.

The Oilers would have around $18 - $19 Million tied up in Horcoff, Souray and Symth. 8O

Hey, I only suggested it because I enjoy the taste from licking up Oiler's fans tears. 8)

Iginla-Tanguay-Smyth would probably be one of the Top-5 lines in the entire NHL if it were to possibly happen. Probably never going to either, but it would still be interesting. Plus the Flames could use one of those veterans like Smyth around if Brendan Morrison is too injured or has decided to move on elsewhere.

He had 23 goals and 24 assists with the Kings last season. Smyth has 355 goals and 405 assists in 1069 career games. - Looks like serious man.

He's a great player on the ice, and a true motivator off the ice. He's an all around incredible person to have on a team, and I'd kill to have him back.
