The White House is telling Congress that President Obama has the legal authority to continue American participation in the NATO-led air war in Libya, even though lawmakers have not authorized it.

Long story short, since there are no American boots on the ground in Libya, America isn't fighting a war in Libya. Hence, the President doesn't need congressional approval to continue the mission longer than 90 days.

    By this logic, this

is not an act of war, as there were no American troops on the island of Honshu on August 6, 1945.

I hope Canada likes the sound of President Biden.

    What he is saying is:

I am the mighty O, this law does not apply to me as I don't like it.

They argued that United States forces are at little risk in the operation because there are no American troops on the ground and Libyan forces are unable to exchange meaningful fire with American forces.

So, as long as Barry is bombing the shit out of a foreign power, to solve a domestic situation, and they are unable to fight back, it's all good,
and it doesnt even count as hostilities.

Now wait, what is that bullshit the lefties cry about the IDF ?

... had to look it up...

    disproportionate force

    yeah, that's the bullshit.

Now watch the lefties all rally around the Messiah.

The Congress has the power of the purse. They can stop this at any time they wish. They lack the political will to do so, so they just whine and moan as is politically expedient.

I would also contend that the War Powers Act is unconstitutional. I may disagree with Obama's policy choice on this, but he is well within his constitutional authority to order the military to act in Libya.

We'll find out soon enough. Some Representatives are filing suit against Obama.

Someone of note disagrees with you:

The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.

"O" might say that as we are not conducting a military action, we are just conducting live fire exercises in Libya with great enthusiasm.

Ha! The man's a joke, but I'll support the ability to make this particular decision, if not the decision itself.

The only bipartisanship I've seen in this Congress is against Obama. It's kinda funny how it is all playing out. Where;s my popcorn?

As a Canadian I'm astounded at how Mr. Obama has had not only to deal with all that G.W. left him with but also and more importantly with a group of Americans who have made it doubly hard to deal with trying to save a countrys ass.

Yes, the law, a law he previously supported, is such a terrible obstruction to his Presidency.

Since laws are essentially a manual for running a society,
