They can't just keep shoveling money into a bottomless pit. They're doing that to prop up the banks that lent Greece money, but at some point they're just going to have to let Greece default before it drags everybody else down. These bank bailouts have to stop.

I can't imagine that Schaeuble came up with this proposal. He must have had to squeeze those words past clenched teeth. Schaeuble is a stauch German nationalist and outspoken critic of the EU. He's repeatedly stated that the EU should stay the hell out of domestic problems among EU members. He has even specifically questioned why Germans should be funding social programs in Greece that are superior to the social services enjoyed by German citizens. He's a radical and just a little to the right of Attila the Hun.
