The man known as the Conservative's bulldog in the House of Commons will now be the face of Canada abroad, as Prime Minister Stephen Harper has tapped John Baird to be his new Foreign Affairs minister.
If you dig deep enough, you can find a picture of almost everyone in a moment when they look crazy.
Since the election, I've seen him interviewed a couple of times and he has appeared intelligent, thoughtful and reasonable (most of all sane - not like that photo), so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Well, it's a QP picture. If you have ever visited the House during Question Period, it's quite the theatre. Well worth a visit. If you are in Ottawa, contact your MP and you can get tickets in the good seats of the public gallery.
"EyeBrock" said On Baird, it's a good move. He's a solid guy.
Donna Friesen tried to harpoon Baird on Global National tonight about the latest 3 Conservative senate appointments. But Baird was cool and quickly turned the tables on Freisen. He came off looking very competent. But don't kid yourself. Baird is a puppet and you can very nearly see Harper's hand up Baird's ass at every turn. I'd like to see a lot more of the John Baird I saw today instead of Harper's Luca Brasi thug-stooge that showed up to make a mockery of last spring's Ethics Committee hearings.
The face of Canada abroad. Uh oh.

You are no fun at all.

Way far back in the corner on your side maybe. Not anywhere near diplomacy.

I'm not thrilled with the prospects but as usual hope to be pleasantly surprised.
