The Alberta government imposed a province-wide fire ban Tuesday in response to the high wildfire risks and windy conditions.

School me, is this a normal time to do that in AB or is it ridiculously early in the season?

very early. especially since we had a better than average snow pack this winter. We haven't really had rain (or snow) since the melt finished.

There's been other years when it's kicked in this early too. The sustained wind dried things right out.
