The NHL's legal department has told a Vancouver car dealership to take down the 'Go Canucks Go' sign on its windows, but the manager says he was just trying to get into the playoff spirit.

It seems the whole Lower Mainland has once again gone playoff crazy, you can't even drive down the street without seeing Vancouver Canucks flags on about 20% of the vehicles, even the Translink buses are sporting "GO CANUCKS" along with their route designations.....GO CANUCKS....

I think a prerequisite for any lawyer working for the NHL or any team is that they have to be a hockey fan, otherwise this a real retarded way of try to gain $upport for a team. Which she be priority one first, then worry about copyright infringement second.

Only Gary Bettman would stoop this low. I guess he must have seen how well it worked for the scumbags at the Olympics and decided he could make some coin doing the same.

It's time to retire him back to the NBA.

    Typical corporate gorillas-in-suits mindset.

OTOH it's excellent publicity for the car dealer-he can change the sign to O Canucks O and everyone will laugh @ the NHL & remember him as well.

The reasoning makes zero sense. They're afraid that people would go to that dealership assuming that there's some connection between it and the Canucks.
Well, there IS a connection, Honda is the official car of the NHL!!!

It get's even dumber. Apparently, Ovechkin likes Coca Cola but he's not allowed to drink it on NHL property, or more accurately, he can't drink it from it's original container since another beverage is the "official" beverage of the NHL.

The buses all have signs saying Go Canucks Go. When I ask the drive to take me to the game he tells me to piss off. What's going on here?

    Did you tip the driver?

Sure. I put my $2.50 right in that tip jar he has by his seat.

Come on NHL let Vancouver support its team. Isn't that the whole point of having a franchise in Vancouver?

Could be worse though. I saw this last summer...

Now imagine an advertisement that said "Team USA: Sponsored by Molson."

There was a clip from the first round of the playoffs showing Chara slamming a bottle of Coke down his neck. Never heard of him getting in trouble with the league for it.

It's not like OV was taken to task over it, the NHL probably just told him to keep it on the down-low and put it in a Gatorade bottle or something.

I noticed that too. With his recent health issue, he likely needs lots of sugar and fluids which that will give him.

Kind of an assholish thing on the NHL's part.

It's all over the news today that he's in shit for it. Time to tell these corporations to go fuck their hats. If I were Chara I'd paint a Coke logo on my cheek for the next game. I'd tell the league or anyone else if they don't like it, they better keep their cameras off me. Complete bullshit.
