The US government would benefit from being shut down for a while.

Two blockheads playing chicken. In Canada as I understand it that would be an automatic not of no-confidence.

Which would only pass in a minority situation.

Good. The Republicans got elected on a promise of less government and they're making good on it.

Last time the morons (that's the Republicans) apologized for doing something they should have celebrated.

The Republicans really have little idea about how to act like a ruling party. They're so used to being the wingman to the Democrats that they don't know how to be the lead.

Cut off all the Social Security and Medicare cheques to all the elderly TeaBirchers in the red states first and see how fast the support for a government shutdown collapses. I doubt that any of the 'Real Americans' are even aware that a government shut-down would actually affect them too.

By the way, the troops overseas also won't get paid during a shutdown, and any assistance their families receive will also be halted as well. The TeaBircher GOP: Yup, our support and love for the military remains at it's traditional mile wide and a half-inch deep dimensions.

The Republicon budget would get rid of medicare, instead giving a subsidy so seniors can buy their own insurance. Wonder how well that will go over, especially once people twig on to the fact that subsidy will be reduced in following years. But, do it slowly enough, I guess and it's the old how to boil a frog thing.

No, you'd see how fast the support for the government would collapse.

Right now we've got one state that's passed a law which is essentially a vote of no confidence in both the dollar and the government. Nine more states are set to follow Utah by the end of the month.

You want to cut off their benefits simply because they don't support the ever-increasing power of the Federal government?

I'm guessing you punch your girlfriends in the face when they criticize you, don't you? They deserve it, right? Essentially, we're talking the same kind of thinking here. If someone doesn't support you unconditionally then beat the hell out of them by whatever means are convenient...oh, and do be sure to target the elderly first.

Seriously, Thanos, do you really support government by edict and fiat or are you just kidding?
