Prime Minister Stephen Harper's personal support for the death penalty is "outlandish" and out of step with the world at large, says the head of Amnesty International.

I think there are certain cases where a death penalty is warranted Russell Williams, Vince Li, Paul Bernardo are a few I can think of off the top of my head.

Somebody had better reel Amnesty in before they drift off into deep space.

Funny that this comes during an election, another 'non' issue being made into just more bullshit.

The more Amnesty whines about Canada, the more inclined I become to tell them to fuck off.

I agree with everyone but Vince Lee. This guy had a massive psychotic episode and should be looked up for life. the other two made careful preparations in their crimes and should face the noose.

Agreed, it should only be for the most extreme cases.

I dont know, decapitating and eating a victim is a pretty extreme break. If he goes off his meds again he could very likely kill again.

It is very extreme, but he didn't plan it. He should be locked up for life and fed his meds.

Don't want the support of shithole countries to get on the security council, and if amnesty is pissed at Canada, shows were are on the right track

You can make a pretty good argument that killers who need to be locked up for the rest of their lives should be executed. Russel Williams is not a psychopath, he does feel empathy. He just got lost in some sexual fantasy. I would guess if released he wouldn't do it again. Vince Li is mentally ill - I'm not sure we want to be executing the mentally ill. That leaves Bernardo. Personally I'd rather just pay to have him locked up for life than re-institute the death penalty.

How is that different from locking Williams and Bernardo for life without meds?

Ya, simple mistake, one day you are sniffing stolen panties the next you're murdering and taking trophies. Happens to everyone eventually.

Williams could very well start killing again if he ever got out, the same as a pedophile could rape a child again if they got out.

    I don't really know. But I think he's curable.

Well let him move into your fucking neighborhood do-gooder, see how you feel then, me thinks you may change your tune when your daughter wakes up and finds him standing at the foot of her bed wearing your old ladies pumps and your thong

That will be at least 25 years from now. If he does some therapy and is serious about changing, as I say, good chance he could.
