I have a feeling Harper wants to send some ground contingent in.

At least someone's fighting. The USA has only sent in unmanned missiles.

The only ground units that should be sent in are doctors and nurses with armed escorts...and then, only in eastern Libya. This can't be seen as an occupation.

The best, if shallow, part of this is watching American liberals not support this action while dancing around the fact Canada's a major player in said action.

Yeah, I wouldn't get involved. Germany, another NATO member knows not to stick its nose in other's business. They learned well after WW2, do we need to get our assess roundhouse kicked like they did before we just ignore and tune out the bullshit that doesn't concern us?

Yemen just killed 50 protesters today, where's the ultimatums and tomahawks?

This needs to be there war not anyone elses. It will only further hurt western reputation in the middle east to be involved. They already hate our guts for sticking our noses into there problems. We need to sit back and let them make there own destiny for a change.

Americans, both liberals and conservatives should be war weary by now. I don't blame them, America is now at war in 3 different countries, and for what purpose? What is the average American gaining from this? More Matt Damon movies about a war in the middle east?

I'd call taking out air defenses for CF-18s being neighborly. No American lives have been risked yet (that I know of).

The lines I'm hearing now from this side of the border are

    1) Canada was part of the Iraqi invasion (????????????????)
    2) Canada's fighting to steal Libya's oil (???????????????????????????????????)

    wtf ?

We are a serious 'player' in NATO and in the UN. We had to do our effort to counter this mad man.

I'm proud of what Harper did.

I dont think we to do anything, this situation is going to get complex quickly. Like what happens when the line between, Rebel, Regular Soldier and unlawful combatant gets blurred? If Daffy starts arming his civilian supporters, and we have rebels fighting armed civilians and regular military fighting how do you decide who to fire on? We are getting involved in something that we shouldnt be messing with, I just hope we dont dig ourselves into too deep a hole.
