holy....kill someone and you get the equivalent of a time out. What sort of message does that send? If that's the way the system is going to work, need to hire another teen to gut this fish.

"I only hope these young men devote their lives to Mr. Hendy's memory," he said. "In one sense, I really do hope they serve a life sentence in the sense that their guilt and responsibility for their actions stays with them."

I hope you feel bad about what you did??? That's it? So if every criminal expresses remorse they get out of serving a sentence?

Appearance in courtroom ALWAYS is counted as the 1st day of any sentence of incarceration. As soon as these pukes walked out of the courtromm, they had already served their 'sentence'!

And yet, one can get years for growing a few pot plants.
I see the Canadian justice system and the UN have something in common,
Both are becoming more and more irrelevant by the hour.

I can bet that these 'kids' had a rough childhood and were courted by gangs and all that othere bullshit! They friggin' killed someone and got nothing..I have lost any trust whatsoever in the Canadian legal system.

    Nope.
The sentence was jointly recommended by the Crown and defence. Court heard witnesses could not identify the accused and offered wildly conflicting versions of what happened, reducing the Crown's prospects of conviction at trial.

"The two individuals came forward and admitted their guilt in circumstances where they didn't necessarily have to," Crown attorney Bruce Sychuk told court Friday.

Pre-sentence and forensic reports prepared for court assessed both teens as very low risks to reoffend. Court heard one of the teens is an elite athlete and possible future Olympian.

I guess sentencing like this go hand in hand with this:

Advocates want Ottawa to stop changes to youth crime law

After all we wouldn't want any potential future Olympians to have to face the harsh realities that a prison sentence would bring, now would we.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse the Canadian Judicial System sinks to a new low.

What do you guys expect from the province that brings you judges who do things like blame a rape victim for dressing to invoke "sex in the air" and who tell tourists who've been mugged they should know better than to use an ATM downtown at night. Hey the last guy I recall here getting one day in jail beat someone to death with a pool ball in a sock outside a bar some time back, I wonder if it's the same judge?

News to this judge, we don't want anyone representing our country who beats people to death, drinking was not the cause of this, his choice to drink too much was butthead! Cops and Corrections Officers know crimes all start with a choice by the offender, nobody has sent the courts the memo yet obviously.
