An early morning fire razed a Vancouver Island hotel Monday morning, destroying the oldest licenced establishment in B.C. and ending a chapter of community history.

Damn, another one gone, has anyone else noticed how many of the old hotels have all been going up in flames. They lost the old Lakeview hotel in Williams lake the Princeton hotel in beautiful downtown Princeton, another was just lost I think in Smithers or there abouts. Also a couple in Alberta and the prairies.

It's to bad but actually I'm suprised it lasted this long without burning down, given the number of reno's that were carried out in the century and half of it's exhistance.

I guess half of CFB Comox will be looking for a new drinking establishment with the same dated and rustic ambiance as the Lorne.
