The Tomas Kaberle era, after several scuttled past departures, is officially over in Toronto. And the Maple Leafs’ rebuild continues with yet another significant trade.

At least they got a good prospect for him before they lost his to free agency and got nothing in return.

I'm just glad it's over. Really tired of hearing all the rumours.

Good work by Burke to load up on the better draft picks they way they have the past few weeks. If he plays it right, either at the draft or through better trades, the Leafs could be a contender within the next couple of years.

This was the right trade at the right time. Kaberle's performance as of late hasn't been all that great. And since Boston appeared to be the only real interest and he seems like he'll be a good fit for them, it could be win/win.
Especially since Burke doesn't seem to have a predeliction for trading young draft picks with good potential for veterans near the end of their usefulness as a player.

LOL. With Burke at the helm Toronto at least has a chance to get better sooner rather than later. After what Sutter did here in Calgary I have no such hope for the Flames over the next three years, the current win streak notwithstanding. Jay Feaster's gonna have to be a miracle worker to fix what Darryl did to the long-term Flame's prospects.

Great trade! A first rounder, potential 2nd and a prospect and the Buds get something before Kabs goes UFA. Nice work, Burke.

I gotta say I do like this trade. It seems Toronto & Boston are now in the position of having draft picks based on the other teams final standing.

Burke's turning things around in T.O. No more hanging the team's success on one or two guys.
