On Thursday, a girl won a match at the most historic high school state wrestling tournament in the country, but she did so in an even more unusual and controversial way than most had imagined possible.

This whole situation gives me mixed feelings. Wrestling is such a physical (i.e. touchy-feely in the naughty way) sport that I'm not sure it's appropriate for kids that age to be engaged in that. Some couples wrestle as a form of foreplay! I'm sure the tournament organizers were trying to be PC and progressive, but I don't think this is the proper venue to bow to the PC gods.

If this girl had been subjected to a 'butt sweep' she'd be crying about discrimination and sexism. Sorry, there's some places that girls just don't belong.

She qualified to get in, if she wants to compete, let her. I'm sure she has to sign a waiver about injuries etc.

Still, it's admirable of the young man to treat her as a lady even if she wishes otherwise.

I don't think injuries is the issue.

Yeah, lets lock them up in corsets and put them on a pedestal. Personally I prefer women who know what they want and persue it, same as me. And are willing to take the consequences of their actions.

I know of women who like to be beaten and whipped. Just because they like it doesn't mean I have to play along.

No you don't. I'm sure they have all the partners they can handle tho.

He probably didn't want to get beat by a girl.

    This is a lose/lose situation...
...if you fight the girl and win, people expect it and won't give you any credit
...if you fight and lose, better go home and hide under your bed for a few weeks

That was my first thought too. But let's take him at his word. He made his decision. He would have known that girls would be part of the contest when he entered.

True. But he obviously was hoping not to be matched against one of them.

At least the young man has some common sense.

Exactly. He took his chances. This is all not a big deal. In my book the rights of girls to compete fairly trumps somebody else's problem with that. I have no problem mixing up the genders in any sport, as long as the sport isn't softened up for the girls. We have a freestyle skiier here I was just hearing about. Sometimes she's allowed to compete with the men, and does well, sometimes she's not. I can see no reason barring her just because she doesn't have a dick.

Free style skiing is a non contact sport.
