WASHINGTON - Every inch of the Canada-U.S. border and the American boundary with Mexico should be under "operational control" of American border officials, a U.S. lawmaker told a congressional hearing into border security on Tuesday.

I was under the impression they were in control of "their" northern border.

But if they think they can tell us what to do in our own country or with "our" border then, let me be the first to suggest that this paranoid wank can carry on and politely

    FUCK HIS FIST

I say let them have it. That way they can deal with all the headaches of dealing with First Nations and they can't play the "blame Canada" game every time some nut job with a stick of tnt stuck in his ginch tries to cross into the US.

They get stuck with all the bills and have to take complete responsibility, sounds like a hell of a deal to me.

If they are worried about terrorists on American soil, perhaps they should stop issuing them visas.

I can see his point (and not just the one on the top of his head either), considering that Canada was directly responsible for 9/11.

Can't they push the "Off" button and cease the manufacture of terrorists.

Give them the control as long as the border stays INTACT.

The really crazy thing is that if we in Canada decided to illegaly go to the US, how the hell would they tell us apart...oh wait I know, because we would all say "EH" and "ABOOT"....these clowns have no clue in reality except that it looks good in the newspapers and on TV.

Just build a 'Berlin' wall and shut the fuck up please. Good bye. Tired of hearing about this border shit. Also tired of Harpers pandering.

What's the big deal? All he wants to do is have a continuous line of security all along our border, on their side.
And unfortunately, I kind'a see his point. The assertion that 1, maybe 2 of the 9/11 terrorists came from Canada aside, we have had a pretty weak immigration policy. Let's face it, we'll let just about anybody into this country, even illegally. You may not believe it but, Canada is a "staging point" for some of those people to eventually sneak into the US. Not terrorists, just illegals.

It might be nice to say that we share the world's longest undefended border, but that also means we have a responsibility to do part to ensure it remains that way! The reckless immigration policy we've had lo' these many years and the weak way illegals are handled is not the way to do it.

I could give a shit if they laid out 6400kms of electrified fence topped with concertina wire, German Shephards patrolling every 100 yds and Apache choppers flying air cover, but we'd be the only reason why. And it would be kind of hard to not take it just a little personally, all things considered.

I'm not saying we should be total American ass kissers, as most of you in here would realize, but for fuck sakes, if we want to have and be good neighbours, we gotta work with them at level on this issue.
It's not much different than being a home owner where the only thing that defines your property from your neighbours is a line on a map, no fence. If one starts taking liberties with the other's property ie; disrespectful guests etc, it won't be long before that fence goes up.

We do work with them on lots of border issues. It's just another despicable Republican/TeaBircher talking point for dicks like this guy to keep suggesting that nothing's being done, or that nothing's ever been done, since Sept 11. This sort of thing is just another indication that too many of these clowns in Congress will slander Canada and throw us under the goddamn bus just so they can score points for their pathetically ignorant blame-everyone-else-but-us voter base.

I know we work on lots of border issues with the US, but illegal immigration is a real sore spot for them, and has been for a lot longer than the Teabaggers have been around.
We've simply added to it. It doesn't do much good to try and shut down the flow of illegals from this end when the flood gates that are our immigration policy are still wide open.
