Its a start. Time to close the flood gates. I read in yesterday's paper that we let in 280,000. Really?? Am I the only one who thinks this is outrageous? There are real Canadians (born here) who are out of work. We need to get our heads out of the sand on this issue.

a 5% drop after setting a new record is not much of a difference.

Well, there is always reason to scare. Ukrainian scientists predict immigration to Ukraine from Africa and Asia. The government drowned our education system by taking care about higher education we have 90 thousands new lawyers per year, 50 th economists per year, the same is with doctors, programmers, cops, scientists and social wotkers. We have 802 institutes for 47 million of people (France has only 79). We don't have enought builders, plumbers, militians, welders etc. The problem is that our nation was never multicultural, we are suspicious to afro, asian, indian etc. The government says that they will invite them and they will be part of Ukrainian culture. But how explain to afro what means love to pirogi and guelder rose in the yard - they don't know. Population moves down very fast. If in Canada it's easy to find 80 age man, in Ukraine 65 old man is a luck. After 10 years we will have 35 millions of people.

Sorry PF. I didn't mean to include you. Coming from a non-multicultural country I can understand how you might be concerned. Welcome the new with perogis and roses. They are bound to fall in love with their new home.

It's a start, tho I think family re-unification should be cut out all together. We don't need to be importing grandma and grandpa to suck off our medical system they've never paid a dime towards. And for what, what good are they to us?

Boy, the more the Reforacons do something like this, the more I want to vote for them. I just worry that Harper still sees Canada as a socialist country and wants to kill Medicare and CPP. If he were to sign some sort of paper saying he'd never do that, I would hold my nose and give him my vote. But then he signed a paper saying her would hold regularly scheduled elections, so I don't know...
