I don't feel comfortable when I see these people walking around with their knives in Toronto. I don't even feel comfortable with the costumes many immigrants from Sikh, Hindu and Muslim cultures wear. Turbans in the police force? Women dressed as if they were in Tehran? This is Canada, people! Why do we even let them in?

I say stop admitting immigrants from these countries and focus more on skilled workers from Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. Oh, and while we're at it, ban the knives in public, and the turban in the police.

Are knives no longer legal? For 35 years I carried a folding 4" Buck knife in it's sheath on my belt in full view and was never asked about it by anyone. Have things changed in the last ten years?

Would you expect to be able to wear that knife onto an airplane, or into the house of commons?

Probably not "expect" but normally would not even think about it as it went everywhere I did. If they stopped me at the door and asked for it then no problem it's theirs 'til I leave. Mostly just wondering what all the talk about carrying knives and such.

I've worn my sgian dhu into the BC Legislature.

Overreaction by Quebec's legislature (they're good at that)... the Kirpan is a ceremonial and religious weapon only.

I kinda hope this is sarcastic, or is an indicator that you did eat the paint?

Maybe read the story before asking your question. They've been banned from the national assembly, ie the Quebec legislature, along with all other knives. Good for them.

As a christian from a sect, I want to bring a sharpened crucifix at the place the government is run. But it will be sealed by leather.

Damn, it's simple. They can wear only a necklace to represent the kirpan. If they go the parliament, they wear it that's all. It's not like we ALWAYS go to the parliement.....

They sure won't be allowed on an aircraft with it, yet they're always flying back to India. It's pure bullshit that they can't take it off. Check your weapons at the door and get them back when you leave - simple.
