"First of all, it's not a biblical curse. It's not a death ray from an alien space ship," said Bird, noting the incidents have created a type of hysteria.
Awww, come on. H1N1 was so long ago. We're way overdue for mass hysteria. It's time for mandatory minimum sentences for alien death rays.
"ShepherdsDog" said better than what they let fall from the sky.
A pirate walks into the bar and hobbles up to get a drink, sporting a peg leg, a hook, and an eye patch..
The bartender exclaims, 'Gee.. this is a little messed up but I have to ask you how you lost your leg.."
The pirate doesn't seem to mind, 'We were sailing along in some choppy waters and I nearly went overboard... I got blown off my feet but managed to catch some rigging. As I was flying out over the water a shark jumped out and bit my leg off."
'OH crap, that's awful.. a shark? What about your hand then?"
the pirate replies, 'oh well we were boarding a merchant ship, about to plunder and some plucky sailer lobbed it off with his cutlass... now I have this blasted hook.'
"Wow, .. and your eye?? "
"I was sitting on the deck of my ship, I happened to look up and a seagull shit in my eye."
"Huh,. that shouldn't have made you lose an eye...?"
The pirate sighs, "Well that was the first day I had this hook....."
This is all in the past 3 weeks, all in different locations - birds (including waterfowl), fish, bats, manatees. As far as I can tell they're all seperate events and all at different locations. I found way, way more than that but these are the only ones where there are so many that are all clustered together within a 2-3 weeks period and for which most have no obvious cause that makes sense. I found a few from late November too. The many others that I found are all mostly isolated incidents and most of those events are spaced out months or even years apart, many of which were due to easily explained causes.
The Pelicans found in North Carolina were killed and mutilated at sea by humans (presumably) and then washed up on shore, so that incident's cause of death is explained.
13 out of the 30 events listed below for the past 3 weeks or so all took place in North America, mostly clustered around the New Madrid fault, southern and mid-west United States - the rest are scattered about the world, nearly all in or near oceans or rivers and some of those are in places where there were recent earthquakes.

Obviously it's all media hype.
But how common is 'this'? Worldwide nonsense?
