Russia stunned Canada 5-3 with an unlikely five-goal third period to win the gold medal at the World Junior Championship in Buffalo. Canada led 3-0 after two periods before Russia scored three times in less than five minutes to tie it.
Well, you can't win them all. If you did then it would be like women's hockey where the rest of the world stops giving a shit. At least it gives the Russian hockey program some hope after their Olympic hockey team failed miserably. Regroup and prepare for the next one.
In the 35 years of the the world juniors, Canada has won it 15 times, won silver 8 more. We have appeared in 23 of 35 gold medal games. Only Russia is close with 13 gold and 9 silver for 22 gold medal game appearances. No other country comes even close to the two great hockey nations with the Swedes being the next nation with 9 gold medal game appearances (only 1 gold). We may not win every year, and we shouldn't, but we're in thick of it every year and win more times than any other nation. The boys represented us very well this year.
At least we beat the US.
There's always next year boys
Thats what we said last year
