BEIJING — Photos leaked online that appear to show a prototype of China's first stealth fighter jet were discussed in state media Wednesday -- a move that supports claims the country's military aviation program is advancing faster than expected.
"PublicAnimalNo9" said Looks slick, but the tail-end looks like a RCS nightmare.
Doesn't really look any worse than this tail section.
The thing has 6 different vertical stabilizers (2 on top, 4 smaller ones on bottom) and the engines are exposed coming out the rear, whereas the F-22 only has 2 vertical stabilizers, and the engines are hidden from view by the diamond-shaped exhaust nozzles.
The J20 looks like it borrowed heavily from the F23.

In any case, I'm not worried about it because the Chinese are unable to make baby formula without mucking it up so I'm not too worried about them producing a stealth fighter.
So they're building a stealth fighter - big whoop. Even the Chinese admit the J-20 is fourth generation, while the Raptor and JSF are fifth generation. And given the problems they have with production quality, I'll bet most won't get much airtime - just like China's domestically produced nuclear subs don't get much sea time.
Unlike their competitors, the Chinese have neither quantity nor quality when it comes to weapons manufacturing.
I'm sure anybody could get a close look at this. Just hang around the airfield it flies out of and wait in a nearby field. One will drop in soon enough.

If the J-20 were made with the same quality as the trash, er Wal-Mart merchandise that they they make we don't have to be too worried.
I don't think they look similar at all. J-20 is a delta wing with canards where the YF 23 is a diamond-wing with elevator/horizontal stabilizer in one unit. Pak-Fa looks closer to YF-23 than the J-20, and even that is a long shot.
