Yea, and from I can gather, being the captain of a USN carrier is usually grooming for a top spot, admiral etc. Silly chap.

Well thankfully he's gone and that means no one on his watch will end up getting killed while he's busy jerkin' it in his cabin to a 'Girls Gone Wild' DVD. The next question is how he managed to get so far ahead in the ranks if he's such a shortsighted goof-off.

Note that he made these videos when he was XO. He got promoted after making them. So command should be looking at themselves and their stupidity, not just him. I guess it was no problem when it wasn't a media story. Exactly like the police force - only act if a cop's misbehavior is found out (like say the guy who pushed that woman down), otherwise no problem.

Not really. By US law, the command of an aircraft carrier is reserved for a naval aviator. Typically, CAG (Commander Air Group) is the stepping stone to commanding a carrier. But command of a carrier is no guarantee of a bump to Butt Admiral because a carrier captain is typically a fighter jock and fighter jocks tend to do things like this.

You can always take the person out of the frat party but you can't always take the frat party out of the person. You'd think after Tailhook they would have paid more attention to keep this sort of thing from happening again (even if this new embarassment is far less disgusting than what happened at Tailhook).
