Wouldn't it be nice if some of our 'left-of-centre' personalities visited our troops?

Yes it would. I really like Don, but I think he is losing it!

Ignatieff is too busy visiting the American side of the camp.
Although I don't mind Don Cherry, he has no business going there.

And why doesn't he have any business going there?

Because his mercenary license expired.

It doesn't specify in the article, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't there in a combat role.

The one and only time Dion showed up troops had to be threatened to appear in a photo op with him!
Even our Franco soldiers wanted nothing to do with him. I predict the exact same result if Layton was to ever go there.

Yea, he's a horrible man heading over during the Christmas season to help bolster the troops spirit while being deployed away from friends and family.
