OTTAWA - Insulting remarks, giggling, harassment and the whiff of pot smoke sparked complaints from passengers peeved about turbulent rides through airport security last year.

NONE of this is leagal in Canada, it is run by the TSA, the US has screeners in 14 other countrys, why is the security of the US streched to our country???

sorry, but more people will focus on the points you're trying to make if you use spell checker.

But he does have a point and if you reply to him, maybe you should address it. ;)

As for scanners in Canada, I believe that is CATSA's duristiction.

This article pertains to Canadian screeners and from my experience is pretty much bang on. On our holiday flights a few weeks ago the most rude screeners were this side of the border. My experience with the US screeners has been quite good. They are professional, business like and always explain what they are going to do in a polite and friendly tone.......or as much as their own personality allows. My more recent trips by air to the US have been great and I found them to be friendly and engaging. Seems they know you're pissed being there and are at least trying to lighten the moment. Not at all with this side of the border. They seem more interested in pissing everyone off and whining about their coffee breaks.

One of the many reasons I stay away from airports...

Hate flying and all the people associated with it - especially Air Canada staff!

Yep, flying has been reduced to a nasty way of getting around, thanks to crap security measures that do nothing to make us safer.

I hate flying these days and the security staff at YYZ are the pits. I've found the Yanks way better.

I agree 100%...........I believe the US screeners have had some personality training where as all you need is a pulse and bored looking scowl to become one here in Canada.

I've posted this before but we need a well trained, well paid, well led and motivated federal security service dedicated to airport security.

Instead we get airport security provided by the cheapest bidder.

Airport security should be an arm of the military or national police anyway, just like it is in Israel. If it were not only would the scanning/check-in portion be handled a lot more professionally but we'd also see a hell of a lot less of the passengers acting up like retarded brats or belligerent drunks. Having it handled by a civilian bureaucracy is an absolute joke.
