For the first time, a Canadian politician has come close to publicly identifying the elephant in the room of Canada’s planned training mission in Afghanistan.

Scorched earth is the way to go here. When NATO leaves Afghanistian, we need a fail safe. If the Taliban retake control we nuke the living hell out of it, leave not even bacteria alive.

We can justify it as cleaning up our mess.

I wonder if it will come to watching the last helicopters leave Kabul with people dropping off them as they lift off.

Sort of the reason why taking the fight to them OVER THERE makes sense. They are a bit pre-occupied with us to launch any shit over here in the past decade

I agree Pen. The fact that we have trained professionals killing these Jihadi wankers in Afghanistan is much preferable to them coming over here to take up the Jihad. CSIS and the RCMP seem to be doing a half reasonable job of routing out the so called home-grown idiot Jihadis.

Once we, the Yanks, Brits and others doing the actual fighting leave, Afghanistan will collapse once more into little fiefdoms and the Tallies will take over again.

I predict terror strikes in Canada and the US once NATO pulls out.

    Get used to headlines like this;

TWELVE terror suspects being grilled last night are feared to have been plotting a Mumbai-style massacre targeting Christmas crowds in CARDIFF.

Five were seized in the Welsh capital - as police swooped on three each in London and Stoke-on-Trent and one in Birmingham.

Met Police assistant commissioner John Yates - Britain's most senior counter-terror cop - said: "Action was necessary to ensure public safety."

Wow, a wankfest going on. And you guys are supposed to know what you're talking about?

    1. The Taliban never perpetrated terror attacks outside of Astan.

    2. Al Qaeda did that, and GWB served to strengthen Al Qaeda by invading Iran.

    3. There are all sorts of terror cells all over the world, they don't need Talibs to spur them to make terror attacks in the west.

    4. The Talibs will be too busy consolidating power once NATO leaves to worry about much else.

    5. Are you really saying you want generations of NATO soldiers stationed in Astan, since swo far NATO certainly hasn't been able to defeat the Talibs, and never will as long as Pakistan remains a refuge for them.

    6. If the Taliban revert to harboring Al Qaeda or such, air strikes or limited raids are going to be a much better policy than trying to hold a whole country for ever, where the bad guys have a refuge next door, and the good guys don't look much better than the bad guys.

Nuking several millions so you don't have to hug your pillow at night quite so tightly.

Fotunately, you're not a policy maker, just a basement occupier.

In fact I read an article about one of your taxi drivers in London who would take a leave of absence to go fight in Astan for the Taliban, then come back and cheerfully resume his career. Apparently he's one of many. So, if the Taliban were directing terror attacks in the west, they would have already done so. It seems they're still just focused locally.

One swallow a summer does not make. You can make your own mind up andy. Pen and I can just carry on with our 'wankfest' and do have a Merry Christmas!

You missed out on one of the rules of Islam that actually helps us, whereby when you are in Jihad you must first destroy the enemy on your home turf before fighting on theirs.

I'm in agreement with Pen and EBs assessment. However, I hope that CSIS and the RCMP continue to do a good job (they already do much better then they get credit for), and we wont see anything spectacular happen.
