A high-end hotel in the United Arab Emirates that just a few days ago was boasting about having the world's most expensive Christmas tree has issued an apology for its over-the-top bejewelled conifer.

    Unless you are referring to the jewelry itself, I'm not sure where the waste of money is. It was designed by an area jewelry store and put on display in the hotel lobby. The only thing that really cost anything was the tree itself.
    The hotel didn't pay a thing for it.

    You've never been to that part of the world. Gold and gems are displayed in most of their upscale establishments. They are famous for it.
