I didn't think you could join the miltary until you were at least 17.If he wants to give these 16 years the right to vote, then we should try them in adult court if they break the law! This B.S. about other countries alowing people tovote at 16, well I'm sure they are charged as an adult .

I believe you need parental consent to join the military under 18. I don't think the majority of 16 year olds are mature enough to vote, I do know that all I was worried about when I was 16 was where the tail was and how I could get some
Voting since 16 is someone's Ill imagination - modern teens can't remember who was the first president or say full version of national anthern, and they want to put in their hands the destiny of country, I'm confused.

But I bet most of them know we have a Prime Minister, not a President.

They're playing little games here. Yes, you can join the military as young as 16 BUT, you CANNOT be sent to a combat zone unless yer 18 or older.
Love the list of countries that allowed under 18 to vote. By all means, let us take our cue from wonderful democracies like NK, Cuba, Sudan, East Timor, Indonesia.
Fucking idiot. Of course it's NO surprise it's a Liberal idea. They need all the votes they can bloody well get

That was my thinking too, I know alot of adults that are confused by pollitics let alone 16 year olds, lets worry about getting the majority of adult canadians voting before we jump to steps like this

Not too hep on BC politics, are you? And the BC Liberals (an amalgamation of all the right wing parties, including former Socreds and PCs) probably aren't that worried about getting votes because the opposition is busy self-destructing. Many people say they won't vote Liberal next time, but if the only other choice is still the NDP (as it was in the last two elections) they'll probably hold their noses and put them bac in power.
Hopefully, but doubtfully, this mess will result in a total shakeup of the political landscape, with more choices available.

That said, I think it's nonsense. Then again, I think there are more things nonsense.
Since voting is not mandatory, I wouldn't worry.

Complacency?

I fathom that might change if Charles becomes King and makes Camilla your Queen.
