Israel has occupied the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since 1967, settling close to 500,000 Jews in more than 100 settlements. They are considered illegal under international law, although Israel disputes this.

Take a look at the map - no wonder the Palestinians aren't making nice. If the US did this to us, all the while claiming that it was perfectly legitimate and that we were the impediment to peace, we'd be a bunch of pissed off double double drinkers too.

I agree. Sanctions would work, especially if the US supported them.

The article tells you what they say. They condemn the settlements as illegal, but it's buisiness as usual.

Am I the only one here that's shocked by the map? I thought the settlements would be close to Israel proper, ie little incursions into Palestine. But they've already Bantustan'd the whole place. And they expect the Palestinians to make peace?

Thats the thing, People have no clue as to exactly whats going down and why that these illegal settlements are key stones to any peace agreement. Also keep in mind these settlements are expanding constantly.

Again just blind support because Israel can never be wrong and its always the not their fault.

    * Once again, cue the rethoric.

EB, Cdo who wants to go first ?
